We're not building another cute pet app. We're creating a powerful, modern tool designed to disrupt the entire veterinary record ecosystem.
Why I Built Altruiss
Altruiss didn't come from a single moment — it came from years of working as a veterinary nurse and seeing how often a pet's medical history becomes fragmented, delayed, or difficult to access.
But adopting my dog, Gigi, made something much clearer.
It showed me that this isn't just a clinic problem — it's a much bigger issue affecting pet owners and, most importantly, rescue animals. So many adopted pets come with incomplete, scattered, or unclear medical histories. Information gets lost between clinics, shelters, and previous owners, leaving gaps at the exact moment new owners are trying to do the right thing.
Bringing Gigi home was incredibly exciting, and like any owner, I wanted to make sure I could give her the best possible care now that she was my responsibility.
As part of that, I tried to get her medical history.
"I was told the records could only be sent to another clinic — not to me."
So I was left in a position where I was responsible for Gigi's health, but didn't have the information I needed to make informed decisions. I didn't know if she had any pre-existing conditions. I didn't know what had already been discussed. I didn't know if there were outstanding issues that needed attention.
The only option was to book a consult and pay to find out — which didn't feel right.
At the same time, as a veterinary nurse, I understand the other side.
I know how clinical notes are written. I know they can be technical, full of abbreviations, and easily misunderstood. I know clinics are trying to protect both their patients and their teams from confusion, misinterpretation, and unnecessary follow-up.
That's when it became clear:
The system isn't designed to connect everyone involved in a pet's care — it's built around separate, disconnected workflows.
Altruiss is my attempt to bridge that gap.
To create a system where a pet's medical history doesn't get lost over time, but instead follows them throughout their entire life — across clinics, homes, and stages of care.
To give clinics a safe, controlled way to share records without increasing risk or workload.
And to give pet owners access to their pet's history in a way they can actually understand — without compromising clinical integrity.
I truly believe what I've created supports both clinics and pet owners — improving communication, continuity of care, and overall outcomes for the animals we're all trying to care for.
At the same time, I know this is something that needs to be built alongside the veterinary industry. I'm always open to feedback on what might be missing, what could be improved, and how Altruiss can better support real-world clinical practice.
Because better access to information leads to better decisions, better communication, and ultimately better care.
