Security & Data Protection

Security & Data Protection
How we safeguard your data and protect the integrity of veterinary records.
At Altruiss, protecting your data — and preserving the integrity of veterinary records — is a core part of how the platform is designed.
We understand that we are handling sensitive information, including medical records, and we take that responsibility seriously.
This page outlines how Altruiss protects your data and how our system is designed to support both veterinary clinics and pet owners.
Our Approach to Security
Altruiss is built around three key principles:
- Data integrity — clinical records must remain accurate and unchanged
- Controlled access — only authorised users can view or share data
- Secure handling — all data is stored and transmitted using industry-standard protections
How Your Data is Protected
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption (TLS/HTTPS) for all data in transit
- Secure storage for all data at rest
- Access controls to restrict data to authorised users only
- Authentication systems to protect user accounts
- Ongoing monitoring and improvements to our security practices
Your data is stored using secure cloud infrastructure, and we work with trusted service providers that meet modern security standards.
Veterinary Record Protection
Protecting the integrity of veterinary records is a critical part of Altruiss.
All clinical documents:
- Are stored exactly as received
- Are read-only and cannot be edited or altered
- Remain clearly attributed to the source clinic where applicable
- Are not rewritten, summarised, or modified at the document level
This ensures that clinical records remain accurate and preserves their medico-legal integrity.
Treatment History vs Clinical Documents
Altruiss separates how information is presented:
- Treatment History provides a simplified, structured view to help owners understand their pet's care
- Clinical Documents remain unchanged and are stored separately as the original source of truth
This approach reduces misinterpretation while maintaining full transparency.
Clinical Record Integrity & Read-Only Protection
Protecting the integrity of veterinary records is a core principle of Altruiss.
All clinical documents stored within the platform are preserved exactly as they are received. We do not alter, edit, rewrite, or modify veterinary records in any way.
Read-Only Records
Clinical records are:
- Stored in their original form
- Read-only and cannot be edited or changed
- Clearly identifiable as originating from a veterinary clinic where applicable
This ensures that the information remains accurate, trustworthy, and suitable for clinical use.
Separation of Information
Altruiss maintains a clear separation between:
- Clinical Documents (original veterinary records)
- Owner-provided information (notes or additional details added by users)
- Structured views (such as Treatment History)
This separation ensures that original records are never confused with simplified or user-generated content.
No Modification of Clinical Data
Altruiss does not:
- Modify clinical records
- Interpret or rewrite veterinary notes
- Change the content of documents provided by clinics
Any simplified or structured information shown within the App is presented separately and does not replace the original clinical documents.
Purpose
This approach is designed to:
- Preserve the medico-legal integrity of veterinary records
- Reduce the risk of misinterpretation
- Maintain trust with veterinary clinics
- Ensure transparency for pet owners
By keeping clinical records protected and unchanged, Altruiss supports both clinical accuracy and responsible data handling.
No Modification of Clinical Records
Altruiss is designed to protect the integrity of veterinary records by ensuring they remain unchanged at all times.
We do not edit, alter, rewrite, or modify any clinical documents provided by veterinary clinics or uploaded by users.
All records are:
- Stored exactly as received
- Preserved in their original format
- Maintained as a true and accurate copy of the source document
Altruiss does not:
- Add to or remove information from clinical records
- Reinterpret or rephrase veterinary notes
- Convert clinical documents into new versions of the original record
Any structured or simplified views within the App (such as Treatment History) are generated separately and do not replace or alter the original clinical documents.
This approach ensures that veterinary records remain reliable, transparent, and suitable for clinical use, while maintaining trust with veterinary professionals and protecting the accuracy of patient information.
Owner Control & Sharing
Pet owners control how their pet's information is shared.
Altruiss allows users to:
- Request records from clinics
- Store records securely
- Share records when needed
Records are only shared when the owner chooses to do so.
Supporting Veterinary Clinics
Altruiss is designed to support — not disrupt — veterinary clinics.
We do not:
- Access clinic systems or databases
- Integrate with PMS systems without consent
- Extract or scrape clinic data
Clinics remain in full control of:
- What records they provide
- When they provide them
- How they choose to participate
Our goal is to reduce administrative burden, improve continuity of care, and support better communication between clinics and owners.
AI & Data Use
Altruiss may include AI-powered features to help users better understand their pet's history.
These features:
- Are informational only
- Do not provide medical advice
- Do not replace veterinary care
AI tools may reference stored data to help explain information, but they do not modify or alter the original clinical records.
Third-Party Providers
We work with trusted third-party providers to support the operation of Altruiss, including services for:
- Cloud storage
- Payments
- Messaging
- AI functionality
These providers are selected based on their security standards and are required to handle data in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection laws.
Your Responsibility
You play an important role in protecting your data.
We recommend that you:
- Use a strong password
- Keep your login details secure
- Only share records with trusted recipients
Once records are shared outside of Altruiss, we cannot control how they are stored or used by third parties.
Limitations
While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no system can guarantee absolute security.
We continuously review and improve our systems to maintain a high standard of data protection.
