Frequently Asked Questions

What is Altruiss?

Altruiss is a secure platform designed to support both veterinary clinics and pet owners by improving how medical histories are communicated, accessed, and understood. It is not a Practice Management System (PMS) and does not replace or interfere with clinic software. Altruiss works alongside existing workflows to help reduce common challenges such as incomplete patient histories, repeated record requests, and miscommunication between clinics and owners. By providing a structured way to request and store records, while preserving them as read-only and clearly attributed to the source clinic, Altruiss helps maintain clinical integrity while improving continuity of care. The platform is designed to: • Support clinics by reducing admin burden and repeated requests • Help ensure more complete and accurate histories at the point of care • Improve communication between clinics and pet owners • Allow owners to better understand their pet's care without altering clinical records Altruiss is built to support veterinary teams — not disrupt them — by making the flow of information safer, clearer, and more efficient for everyone involved.

How does Altruiss work for clinics?

When an owner requests records: 1. The clinic receives a structured request email 2. The email includes: • Owner details • Pet details • Owner consent • Optional short explainer video 3. The clinic can: • Reply with attached records (current method), or • Upload via a secure link (when available) That's it — no login, no integration, no system changes.

Will this increase workload for clinic staff?

No. Altruiss is designed to match existing behaviour, not add new steps. Clinics already: • Respond to record requests • Export or email documents Altruiss simply: • Standardises the request • Includes owner consent upfront • Reduces repeated follow-up Over time, it can reduce: • Duplicate record requests • Phone calls from confused owners • Missing history issues

Why don't owners see raw clinical records first?

Altruiss is designed to reduce misinterpretation and unnecessary follow-up. Owners primarily see a Treatment History, which is: • Simplified • Structured • Easier to understand Full clinical records are: • Still available • Stored separately • Clearly labelled as clinical documents This reduces confusion while maintaining full transparency.

Can owners access the full clinical records?

Yes. Clinical records are: • Accessible in a separate section • Read-only • Clearly labelled • Accompanied by a notice explaining that they contain clinical terminology This ensures: • Clinics retain data integrity • Owners retain access when needed

Does Altruiss edit or interpret clinical records?

No. Clinical documents are: • Stored exactly as received • Never altered • Never edited • Always attributed to the source clinic Altruiss does not change clinical data.

Does Altruiss provide medical advice?

No. Altruiss does not: • Diagnose • Prescribe • Replace veterinary care Any AI features are: • Informational only • Designed to help owners understand terminology • Always prompt users to consult their veterinarian

Is it legal to share records through Altruiss?

Yes. Pet owners are generally entitled to request access to their pet's medical records. Altruiss facilitates this by: • Providing structured requests • Including clear owner consent • Maintaining an audit trail of requests and uploads Clinics remain in full control of what they choose to share.

Are clinics required to participate?

No. Participation is entirely optional. Clinics can: • Choose to respond or not • Provide full or partial records • Follow their existing policies Altruiss does not override clinic discretion.

Are clinics liable for how owners use the records?

No. Once records are released: • The owner controls access and sharing • Clinics are not responsible for how records are interpreted or used Altruiss includes: • Clear disclaimers • Structured presentation • Separation between simplified history and clinical documents

How is data kept secure?

Altruiss uses: • Encrypted storage • Secure upload processes • Access controls • Audit tracking Clinical records are: • Read-only • Protected from modification • Securely stored

Will Altruiss integrate with PMS systems?

Not at this stage. Future versions may include: • Optional integrations • Secure clinic upload portals • Reduced reliance on email All future features will remain opt-in and clinic-friendly.

• Improved continuity of care • Better-informed clinical decisions • Reduced duplicate diagnostics • Fewer record requests over time • More prepared and informed clients Altruiss is designed to support veterinary care — not disrupt it.
